Achieving Success

In class today we pretty much came to the conclusion that the American dream of the past is no longer a valid, attainable goal for everyone. So then next best thing would to be set some decent goals and try to achieve them. Success is a personal definition, in my opinion, and therefore it is attainable for anyone. If you want to be a garbage man, and make a low salary, and you are the best damn garbage man that you can be, then in my book you are successful. Being happy with what you have is the most important thing, and what we should all realize that not everyone is gonna have a beautiful house and fancy car, because it just can't happen for everyone. If you've worked hard for what you have, and are proud of what you've done then you are achieving the "American dream". It is clear that our government and the system they have set in place is not favorable for the majority of Americans. So, we must find happiness in the little things that get us through the day, otherwise your life will be miserable. Time on earth is too short to worry about what you could have or what you could do. Go out and make something happen, or sit back and enjoy what is in front of you, and maybe everything wont seem as awful as it actually is.

  1. Couldnt have said it better. The american dream has changed to what you want to achieve in life even if it means not being rich or famous and is no longer in that mold of a house with a picket fence and 2 kids. If you accomplish the goals you set for yourself in life and are content with that, then you achieved your american dream.
