Detriot

After reading "Detroit's Time Bomb" I decided to see if I could find a more recent depiction of it's decaying slums. Besides the shaky camera at times it really shows a lot of neighborhoods in Detroit that are/have been looking like ghost towns.

From rusted boats, torn-up cars, old in-ground pools to entire buildings boarded up and crumbling. Entire skyscrapers have been abandoned and scheduled for demolition. Most of these buildings have remained in the same rotting condition for years. Police are called to many of these neighborhoods but never show due to the intensely high crime rate. To give you a perspective on how it is compared to the city of Buffalo here's a link comparing the two:

Now after the automotive industrial disaster, even more workers are out of jobs, placing even more strain on the already stressed city. Not to mention the graduation rate of high school students is under 25% (npr.org). Without even going any further into the depressing analysis of Detroit, I believe it's safe to say it is overall one of the cities in America most in need of a turnaround...badly.
