Question 5 "Reel Injuns"

On the subject of recent movies that show the portrayal of Native Americans played by white actor, I cant think of any recent movies. I feel like popular movies have started to go away from western movies with Indians. I feel like the practice of white actors portraying Native American characters is perfectly fine. If you look at the history of film and theater, you can see that people have portrayed different cultures and even different genders. Back in the time of Shakespeare, men would dress up and play female roles. I feel that if the actor is good and is portraying the character right then it shouldn't matter if the white actor plays a Native American role. The problem that people seem to have is the way directors, and Hollywood in general, portray the cultures. If they actually portrayed the certain group correctly, the actor/actress would most likely go down in history as one of the greats, especially after all the negative portrayals of Native Americans over the years.
